Secretly tucked away in the Rotterdam city centre, there is an underground bar known for the quality and artistry of its cocktails that truly evoke the mood of a 1920s speakeasy. It will tantalize the taste buds of cocktail lovers. Experience the forgotten thrill of secret passwords, underground basements and just a touch of lawlessness. So shushhhhhh.
A speakeasy is an illicit establishment that sells alcoholic beverages. Such establishments came into prominence in the United States during the Prohibition era (1920–1933, longer in some states). During that time, the sale, manufacture, and transportation (bootlegging) of alcoholic beverages was illegal. Speakeasies largely disappeared after Prohibition was ended in 1933 except but we found the remains of one and restored it.
A painters addiction to absint, a successful communist, an angel of mercy, the general of an revolutionist movement and a doctor with to much love for his own medicine.
Illegal, mysterious and hidden away from the big crowd the cocktail stories are told. Intriguing stories of world chancing persons. They had one thing in common, they enjoyed a good cocktail.
Cocktail is an alcoholic mixed drink, which is either a combination of spirits, or one or more spirits mixed with other ingredients such as fruit juice, lemonade, flavored syrup, or cream. There are various types of cocktails, based on the number and kind of ingredients added. The origins of the cocktail are debated but who gives a f**k as long as they taste good!
